Established in 1958, HONGBAO is a professional manufacturer of pliers. HONGBAO is not the first Chinese pliers manufacturer, but is the biggest manufacturer of pliers in China.
At the beginning, HONGBAO produce stainless steel medical instruments for the domestic market. With China’s reform and opening up, HONGBAO began to supply products to foreign customers. Some customers suggested HONGBAO to produce hand tools, because the tool market was hundred times bigger than medical instrument market. Mr. Zhu, the leader of this company, gladly accepted the suggestion from this customer and purchased some equipment to produce pliers. Then their performance rose rapidly, was listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SHE: 002071) in 2006.

In addition to pliers, HONGBAO also produce adjustable wrench, wood chisel, kitchen knives and other hand tools.

The company is the main drafting unit of national standards and industry standards for pliers, a unit involved in the revision of international standards for pliers and also the vice president of China Hardware Association.
